Artist’s Manifesto

Now more than ever, I feel that the fragile state of the world requires art that both challenges and highlights our perceived strengths and weaknesses as human beings. Presently my observation is that there are a large number of people that make their decisions based on fear, allowing for a lack of careful consideration. The truth at the root of many of those fears is something seldom addressed in our culture, and is naturally found in radical self-expression. We are taught to appear strong at all costs- arguably an unnatural state for beings with such a spectrum of emotion available to us.

Growing up, I noticed early on how often this led to negative outcomes in society and was quickly drawn to acting (as well as other forms of storytelling) due to the desperate pursuit of truth I immediately noticed and craved in various performances. When I approach my craft with ideas in tow, my aim is to inspire questioning in even the most secure of minds, thus opening up a more accessible and creative space for the public to feel in control of their future. In other words, what motivates me to work, and to share that work, are the messages and representation that it portrays, both to myself and to the public. Even if that message is profoundly absurd.

My goals as a multidisciplinary artist are in a constant state of flux, however, they all connect back to the issue of finding and honoring truth through performance.
